  • What is Awardshowhost.com?

Awardshowhost.com is a web application company. We are your online ballot for all the major award shows (see ballot list criteria). We are here to help with your viewing party, office pool or any gathering you host. We keep score for you.

You pick a show, create a pool and invite people. Each person fills out a ballot. We score the ballots for you.

 

  • Awardshowhost definitions:

Category - Nomination Category (for example - best picture, best director or best play)

Nominee - Category Nominees (the individuals, movies, songs that are in contention)

Ballots - List of Categories with all the nominees

Pool - Group of ballots competing in the same pool

Player - Person who makes choice on a ballot

Commissioner - Person who creates pool and invites players

Manager - Person designated by Commissioner to help manage players and ballots

  • My email account cannot receive email sent from awardshowhost.com, confirmation, invitations, or any other email.

Some email hosts have strict spam filtering. Sometimes it blocks emails from our site. Please check your spam folder and mark our emails as "not spam" or "not junk".

  • What types of pool scoring are supported?

We offer two types of pools: Pick 'em Pools and Confidence Pools

Pick 'em Pool definition
The Pick 'em pool format is the simplest pool and easiest to understand. For every category, from the list of nominees, pick a winner. A correct pick earns the player points. Standings are calculated real time as the show progresses. Most points wins.


Confidence Pool definition
The Confidence pool is our most popular format because it helps prevent ties. Similar to a Pick ‘em pool, player picks a winner in every category from a list of nominees. The difference is players must assign points (usually 1-25) each category based on their confidence in their pick. The more points they assign the more confidence they are in their pick. The less points assigned, the less confident. Each point value (1-25) can only be used once. Each point value must be used once.

  • What types of ballots are supported?

    We offer two different ballots: Standard and Custom

    Standard Ballots include every category that is televised.

    Custom Ballots are categories chosen by the pool commissioner. Want to have only 4, 8 or 10 categories? Custom ballots allow you to choose the number of categories using either scoring method.

  • What is the hosting fee for pools on the website?

The hosting fee is dependent on the number of ballots. Below are our hosting fees.

Individual Award Show Pools

Up to 5 ballots          $15.00

6 to 75 ballots          $39.00

76 to 150 ballots      $59.00

151 to 400 ballots    $149.00

401 to 1000 ballots$299.00

Business Award Show Pools

Up to 200 ballots      $99.00

  • How do I register on the site?

From the homepage - click "Sign up". Fill out all the required fields

  • How do I create a pool?

After having registered (or logging in), click on "My Pools" and then click "Create Pool".

  • How do I join a pool?

After you have registered and logged in, click on "My Ballots" and ballots sent by the pool manager/commissioner will appear.

  • I have already joined the pool but cannot get into my pool. Do I have to join again?

No. Once you have registered and joined a pool, you can't join again. Our site requires a separate email address for each user. A Pool Selection page shows your different pools. Click a pool name in the list to switch to that pool.

  • Can I allow more than one entry per pool?

Yes. As manager/commissioner after logging in go into "My Pools" and "under # of ballots per person" input a number. Please remember, Award Show Host charges by number ballots not players.

  • What if I shared the same email address with someone else, and we both want to join the pool separately?

Each account on the site needs a unique email address.

  • What shows do you support and what is the criteria?

Our criteria are twofold:

a) Show must be televised.

b) Winner must be chosen through closed member voting. Sorry no shows based on sales (Billboard) or public popularity (People's Choice) because the outcome is already known.

  • As a manager/commissioner can I tell if the people I invited have filled out their ballots?

Yes. As manager/commissioner you can go into "My Ballots" and under members you will see a thumbs up or thumbs down to show a completed ballot.

  • After submitting my picks, is there a confirmation?

Yes. A green "saved" popup will appear on the screen.

  • What is the deadline for submitting picks?

This is fully customizable by the league manager/commissioner but ALL POOLS and BALLOTS are locked about 10 minutes before the Award Show Starts (usually 8pm EST/ 7pm CST/ 5PM PST).

  • At what point is everyone’s picks available to everyone in the pool?

All ballots are available to be viewed after all pools and ballots are locked. This lock out is about 10 minutes before the Award Show Starts (usually 8pm EST/ 7pm CST/ 5PM PST). A manager/commissioner can only see if the people have completed their ballots.

  • How do I invite players?

After you have logged in go to "My Pools" and then "Create Pool" after that click the "+people" icon and add email addresses.

We suggest that you go to your own email client, go through your address book, click each person you want to invite then cut and paste all those addresses in the invite box provided.

  • Can I delete a Pool I started?

Only a manager/commissioner may delete a pool. After logging in go to "My Pools" and then "Edit Pool" after that click the "delete pool" icon. This is permanent, all ballots will be deleted.

  • Can I change the pool name after registration?

Yes. A manager/commissioner can change the pool name by logging in go to "My Pools" and then "Edit Pool" and changing the pool name.

  • Can I change my pool name as it appears?

Yes. Any player change the pool name by logging in go to "My Ballots" and then under "Ballot Name" and changing the name and then "submitting ballot"

  • I know people that want to play in our pool but lack computer access. How do I place their picks?

We all have that wonderful computer illiterate person in our lives. No problem. A manager/commissioner can add ballots by logging in and going to "My Pools". There click “edit ballots” on the pool. Click “add ballot”. You can now change the name, and add a ballot for anyone.

  • When trying to log in to the site, it tells me "Cookies" are disabled. What's a cookie?

Our "cookie" stores a small amount of information on your computer. No calories we promise! Our web site uses it to personalize your experience.

  • No calories for cookies? Great. How do I enable cookies?

This is web browser dependent and can differ with different version of the web browser. It's usually located in the Internet Options of the web browser.

  • Is there a private message board available for my pool?

Yes. Each pool gets their own private message board for open, friendly dialogue. HA! Trashing talking is expected and more than half the fun. Don't worry, the message board is only viewable by your pool members.

  • What is your PRIVACY POLICY?

AwardShowHost.com will only keep a users name and email address on record. Personal information collected during registration will never be shared with any other website, company, or third-party without your expressed consent.
